A major utility company wanted to perform a self-assessment against the Malcolm Baldrige criteria for performance excellence as part of their strategic planning process, and hired ESTM to organize and facilitate the project.  ESTM developed a  team-based, cost-effective approach to the assessment, and worked with the management team to form and organize the assessment teams.  We developed and conducted training programs on the Baldrige criteria and the self-assessment methodology, worked with the team leaders to prepare evaluation materials and detailed project plans, and guided and facilitated the work of the self-assessment teams throughout the project.  On completion of the assessment, we organized and facilitated a joint meeting of all of the teams to translate their individual findings into a final consensus report that summarized the company’s strengths and provided a prioritized list of actionable opportunities for improvement. 

The report was well-accepted by the company’s management and Board of Directors, and the findings were directly incorporated into the company’s strategic plans.   The company successfully executed against these plans and was subsequently awarded the New Jersey Governor's Award for Performance Excellence, the State's Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award.
